Maybe it's the wild success of Trinity Three Irish Pubs or maybe it's the ferocity with which Milwaukeeans gulp down the Gaelic tradition, but no matter the reason, R.C. Schmidt continues to spread the Irish love.

Black Rose Irish Pub, 2856 N. Oakland Ave., opened last Friday in the space next to one of Schmidt's flagship restaurants, Oakland Trattoria.

A newly renovated space, Black Rose combines traditional Irish pub ambience with a classic bar food menu. Open daily at 11 a.m., this new East Side pub serves a full menu lunch and dinner seven nights a week.

"This is a great neighborhood and it's definitely going to be a great addition to the businesses already here," Tina Lukowitz, Schmidt's public relations manager, says.

Lukowitz says the menu features "Milwaukee favorites" like burgers and fish and chips.

Utilizing the space next to Oakland Trattoria, Black Rose spans two store fronts with two full bars, plenty of dark wood booths and a large screen television across the back wall. Each bar taps several regional and national beers with a special focus on local Water Street Brewery's Black Lager.

Check out Black Rose this weekend for plenty of opening specials on food and drinks.

Ahh, barman, I'm pretty sure the correct spelling is "trattoria."

hi 'Barman'... Yes there is an Irish Pub in Boston named 'Black Rose'. There are also many other pubs across the world named 'Paddys', 'McGillicuddys', 'The Harp', Fitzgibbons, ....the list goes on and on. A name of a pub is one thing, it is what it has to offer to the public that means much more.

The interior is totally different than what was there before. Hats off to Flux Design with there design and execution. Great Job RC on bringing 'life' to Oakland Ave.

Do Oakland Trattoria and Black Rose share the same kitchen?
