OnMilwaukee.com held another of its Jazz In The Park VIP winner table event's last night. Here's a brief summary from our own Todd Hall.
The King Comets mixed rock a billy with some twist on some modern day standards that kept many in the crowd dancing from the beginning to the end of the evening.
As this was my first night at "Jazz" this summer, I didn't see the "no carry in policy" having any significant effect on attendance. Gone were the "kegger for kids" groups that brought in a mobile bar, got loaded by the first song and passed out by the 4th (not that I don't love that group of people and am a semi-proud member of that group myself on occasion). The party vibe was still present (thus the 60-year old man with the 48 oz martini), it just seemed to grow up a bit.
Weather: Mid to Upper 60s, light breeze - perfect.
Fare at the VIP tent: Fresh fruit, vegetable and cheese platters
grilled chicken, pepper and endive finger sandwiches, Miller Lite, Miller Chill and Stone's Throw Wines.
Attendees:
April Jackson
Dan Scholl
Hugh Pepau
Dave Vlaj
Jim Murray
Charles Johnson
Anis Zainuddin
Overall attendance estimate: 1,800
See you next time!

Todd it has appeared to me that every Jazz crowd this year has been smaller, especially last night. Now, the bars are busy, and that's good, but the park definitely has less people in it. Incidentally what's in those red plastic cups? carry-in?
