Joe the Plumber is old news. Joe the Dunker is ready for 2009.
Bucks rookie Joe Alexander wants a shot at the 2009 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and like we did for the Brewers Corey Hart, it's our turn to vote a hometown player into the all star fold.
The 6-foot 8-inch forward is one of three rookies vying for the event's final spot, which takes place as part of the NBA's All-Star Weekend festivities Feb. 21 in Phoenix.
"The dunk contest is in need of change and I am prepared to bring my ideas to it," said Alexander. "Vote for me and I promise that you will see dunks that will outshine and outlive the dunks from previous contests.
"It would be an honor to represent the city of Milwaukee on such a global stage," he added.
Alexander hasn't seen a lot of playing time this year, but the guy has huge jumping ability and a good personality. He's been winning dunk contests his whole life. So, he deserves a shot on the NBA dunk contest stage with the reigning champ Dwight Howard.
To further his campaign, Alexander, with the help of team officials from the Bucks, has developed SeeJoeDunk.com. A collection of campaign ads will highlight the page, featuring Joe Alexander, Charlie Bell, Charlie Villanueva and Bango. Those videos will be released one by one over the coming weeks. Footage from his campaign-opening press conference can be seen now.
In addition, the Bucks offer a ticket special for all home games during Alexander's campaign beginning on Jan. 2. All $37 upper-level seats are available for $11. In addition, all fans that take advantage of the offer receive a limited edition "See Joe Dunk" campaign poster.
Fans can vote for Joe once per hour by visiting SeeJoeDunk.com or by visiting Bucks.com. Fans can also vote on NBA.com.
Voting ends on Jan. 15 and the winner will be announced that evening on TNT.

I'd rather just see Joe contribute to the team winning. So far he's a flop.
