Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker officially moves the Bradford Beach Water Garden project forward today at 12:45 p.m. by signing a resolution for the project that could help spur additional and much needed improvements along the Lakefront.
Jim Donnelly of The Design Office, the designer of the garden, will be at the event at Bradford Beach with the design visuals (shown above). Jim Goulee, Director of the Park People and champion of the project, Deborah Lukovich, will also be at the event.
A fundraising campaign for the project will be launched soon. A group called Friends of Bradford Beach plans to raise more than $600,000 in private funds to create the Water Garden.
"We want to give people another reason to come back to Bradford Beach," said Deborah Lukovich, Chair of Friends of Bradford Beach. "Our purpose is about more than providing a place for children to play and others to sit and enjoy the view. Our Water Garden will inspire people to appreciate this great landmark in Milwaukee as well as provide opportunities to learn about one of our most important natural resources."
