Yaffa, 106 W. Wells St., will close on Feb. 16 and reopen Feb. 27 as Byron's Beer Garden and Bistro.

Crews have been working in the space the past several nights. The new concept will have the same ownership but will feature ribs, chicken wings, burgers, a Friday fish fry and nightly beer and food specials.

Yaffa opened at its Riverwalk space in December 2005.

Something tells me you may not have to wait too long for that next door closing you're hoping for - being arrogant cause failure in the hospitality industry whether you're serving cous cous or slinging beers and burgers.

NO THANK YOU! I predict the next time this happens Chitko will be closing his doors for good, especially if he continues to treat his patrons like he has been latey. I brought a group of 8 to Yaffa a couple of weeks ago on an invite sent by Chitko for a happy hour special only to be told he wasn't honoring the email he sent out (without sending a retraction). We would have never travelled all the way downtown if it wasn't for that invite. And on top of that we were treated like dirt by his snooty staff and then himself. Restaurants are a dime a dozen and you need to do everything possible to get people to choose yours over theirs. Sorry, but my company and I will never be returning - we went across the street to Rockbottom and were treated with respect and dignity, AND we had a lovely dinner.

Hope it's better than Rock Bottom. That place has terrible food.

Seriously? Seriously? ANOTHER brew pub? I liked Yaffa. It was actually different. I understand trying different things to keep your business alive, but this? Milwaukee - come for the beer and brats stay for the Irish pubs....

A true shame. This was our 'special occassion' restaurant that we would go to. Some of the best food in town. Like another poster said, hope you open up something similar to Yaffa in another location. Keep Milwaukee diverse!

Reader Poll
If you could choose, would you prefer December or March to stay warm and snowless in Milwaukee?
December. I'm not ready for winter yet.
March. By then, I need winter to be over.
There's no use complaining or hoping for better weather in Wisconsin.
Actually, I like snow.
