Information about OnMilwaukee.com author:
Sandy Maxx

Sandy Maxx is a Midwestern multi-media professional, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes.

Look for Sandy on the Miller Park jumbotron screen as a Game Day Host for the Milwaukee Brewers and at events around town when she's not otherwise planning radio events and experiences as Promotion Director at WTMX/Chicago.

Her voice likely sounds familiar if you ever tuned in to WMYX, or before that, WKLH. Or even 93QFM in the early '90s. You may also recognize Sandy Maxx from hosting Milwaukee Wave games, P.A. announcing Marquette University women's basketball and volleyball games, or her local TV appearances on the CBS 58 versions of "The Amazing Race" and MPTV's pilot of "TV MKE."

Energetic and chatty, Sandy loves to discover and share highlights of the city and is happy to be writing for OnMilwaukee.com. She's been previously published in the hardcover book of essays, "You're the Best Friend Ever," right across the page from Oprah Winfrey. Maxx says she feels that she's "continuing to stay in quite esteemed company by writing for OnMilwaukee.com now."

Brewers -- toast of the town
Count me as one of the thousands of overjoyed fans last Sunday when the Brewers nabbed their Wild Card spot to head to the playoffs! Even two games down to the Phillies, I remain optimistic and eager to see the Brewers back at Miller Park to play October baseball on home turf.

 Are you celebrating St. Nick’s?
When you wake up on the morning of Dec. 6, will there be a stocking full of candy and maybe even a piece of fruit in it waiting for you? Or maybe some small gifts? If you answered yes, you’re one of most Milwaukeeans who participate a tradition known as St. Nick’s Day.

“I Got Yule, Babe” CD mixes Milwaukee into merry tunes
99.1 WMYX has been playing all Christmas music all the time since Nov. 10 and, as their midday DJ, I feel like I’m becoming a bit of an expert on traditional tunes. I’ve been keen to find some off-the-wall and unique holiday musical offerings. One of my favorite recent finds is local actor and singer Joel Kopischke’s CD, “I Got Yule, Babe.”

If you could choose, would you prefer December or March to stay warm and snowless in Milwaukee?
December. I'm not ready for winter yet.
March. By then, I need winter to be over.
There's no use complaining or hoping for better weather in Wisconsin.
Actually, I like snow.
