For more than four years, Six in the City has hosted its regular happy hour gatherings at various spots in and around Downtown Milwaukee at 6 p.m. on Fridays. But, on Friday, the viral and still vibrant group goes out on top.
In an e-mail, "Six" announces, "It's been four years since we started Six in the City, and we have decided that the best way for SITC to go out is with a big four-year celebration this February. Thus, Feb. 29 will be the last Six in the City. It'll be a Leap Day, 4-year SITC anniversary, and SITC finale celebration all wrapped up in one. How are we going to celebrate all that in one venue? We're not! To celebrate in true SITC style, the Feb. 29 Six in the City will be a double-header at the new Monkey Bar, 1619 S. 1st St., and La Merenda, 125 E. National Ave."
Need a special to get your there? Monkey Bar will have $5 monkey drinks and $2 domestic bottles. La Merenda pulls $2.50 taps of Lakefront ( Snake Chaser Stout and National Avenue Ale), $2.50 bottles of Wisconsin-brewed micros and $1 off any cocktail with Rehorst vodka or gin.
While something tells me that a similar group will soon re-organize, many will miss the regular and somewhat witty Six in the City e-mails. The final one is posted below.

Six in the City was an excellent resource for me to meet new people and enabled me to discover the Milwaukee night life beyond Water Street. I'm sad to see it's ending and look forward to celebrating 4 years of fun on Friday night! Cheers!

I go to Six in the City as often as I can. Thank you for providing information on new places to go and drink specials for all of us over the years. Four years! What an accomplishment! I've looked forward to your creative e-mails every Friday and will be sad to see it end. Kudos to the organizers for all their efforts towards making Milwaukee an exciting place for all of us wanting a night out on the town. Thank you.

Jeff, thanks for the kind mention and for OMC's support through the calendar & weekend preview listings. We are proud to have contributed to Milwaukee's social fabric over the last four years; it has been a great experience for us. Regards, Six in the City
