The taps are flowing again at Bar Louie's Downtown location.
The Common Council, which forced the Water Street tavern to close because of a paperwork snafu, interrupted its recess and approved the liquor license for the establishment Tuesday morning.
Without the reprieve, which was spearheaded by Ald. Bob Bauman, the bar would have been closed until early next month and its 90 employees would have been out of work.

If you don't recall this happened to Brewcity BBQ when in the same location. The common councel made arrangements to meet and they didn't even have to close for a second because of it. Why does the common councel take off for the entire month of August anyway? We're paying them $70,000 a year and giving them all kinds of benifits on top of that to work 11 months of the year. Michael McGee is getting the paid vacation too I guess. Bunch of lazy criminals. And people were all up in arms about the Iraq government taking off in August.

How much money changed hands to help make this happen? Do you think the Milwaukee comon council would have done soemting like this for a small "mom & pop" establishment? I doubt it!

licensing snafu or media/public relations coup? since i first read about this on omc, nearly every media outlet in town has covered it. didn't know about bar louie a few weeks ago? you do now! way to go, louie.
