"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
As OnMilwaukee.com gets ready to host the first Bartender Olympics, you can get ready to cheer on the competition by familiarizing yourself with future Milwaukee Bar Olympians.
Watch for profiles of all 10 bartenders over the next week and then catch the action at the Milwaukee Ale House on Thursday, Feb. 26. All in honor of friendly competition, cheer on your favorite Olympian while you enjoy deals on Ale House food and Maker's Mark, Jameson, Absolut Mango or Dr. Lemon drinks.
Meet Nick Beaudry, a drink slinger at Milwaukee Street's Zim's Bar.
OnMilwaukee.com: What's your favorite thing about working as a bartender in Milwaukee?
Nick Beaudry: The people are very nice. There are people out every night of the week.
OMC: Do you think that's different from other cities?
NB: From my experience. I've done a lot of traveling and even in Las Vegas you don't see people out on a Monday as much.
OMC: If you could bartend at an establishment other than Zim's, where would it be?
NB: I'd probably want to bartend in Vegas. Maybe at the Bellagio.
OMC: If you could serve a drink to anyone, who would it be and what would you serve?
NB: Frank Sinatra. I'd probably make him a dry gin martini.
OMC: Is that your specialty?
NB: I make a pretty good martini. I'm pretty good at making sangria, though. I'd say that's my specialty.
OMC: Which artists would you put on your jukebox?
NB: Journey -- every bar has got to play Journey. Probably some Justin Timberlake in there for the girls at night.
OMC: In the competition you're going to be making a cocktail with one of the four sponsor brands. Which one did you pick and how do you typically serve it?
NB: I like to mix Maker's Mark with ginger ale.
