The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Eat & Drink, 2007. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
College students are a pretty predictable bunch. They like cheap, cold beer. Lots of cheap, cold beer. They like to hang out in large groups of like-minded, similarly dressed folks in their age group.
Did we mention they like cheap beer?
They do.
But, they also like diversions like dart boards, pool tables, karaoke, live music, trivia games and, of course, beer.
It's no surprise, then, that OnMIlwaukee.com readers selected Murphy's Irish Pub, 1613 W. Wells, as their favorite Marquette bar in 2007.
Murphy's offers Big-Ass (32 ounces) beers on Wednesday, cheap pitchers on Sunday and drink specials just about every other night. It's a place to see, be seen and possibly hook up with a member of the opposite sex.
Murphy's out-pointed second-place Sobelman's, which is famous for hamburgers, and Jim Hegarty's Irish Pub, the editor's choice, which draws a mix of upperclassmen and business types.
OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Jim Hegarty's Pub
Runners-up:
2. Sobelman's
3. Jim Hegarty's Pub
4. Caffrey's
5. Ambassador Hotel
6. Miss Katie's Diner
7. Angelo's
8. The Harp Shamrock
9. Conway's
10. Annex
