"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!
The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2009. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all month long in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.
Milwaukee is a town that takes its breakfast drinks very seriously, and standing tall and delicious at the top of the day-time drinks is the mighty Bloody Mary.
One the most beautiful aspects of this drink is its versatility. There are virtually hundreds of ways to mix a Bloody and each bar and restaurant seems to do it differently.
And that is why we asked you, the readers of OnMilwaukee.com, to pick your favorite in the city. You chose the Wicked Hop by a large margin.
The Bloody Marys here come packed like a meal -- beef stick, shrimp, blue cheese stuffed green olive, marinated mushroom and piles of mozzarella cheese that took the shape of thick Japanese noodles. And that's just the garnishments.
The drink itself isn't a fire-eating contest; it's a bold, flavorful mix of spices that tastes more savory than spicy, making it a very accessible drink for even the mildest palate.
We salute you, Wicked Hop, for doing right by the Queen of Cocktails.
OnMilwaukee.com editor's choice: Wicked Hop

Actually, the "brown mix" is pre-made so that you CAN specify your vodka preference...

I'm not down with the Wicked Hop's Bloody Mary simply because they are pre-made and you can't choose your desired vodka brand.

The Wicked Hop? The last time we were there, the Bloody Mary tasted like tomato juice. I got to give it to Trocadero. They consistently outdo everyone else with the SouthSider Bloody Mary!
