Milwaukee's best strip club, 2010: Silk Exotic

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs -- including guides, the latest trends, rapid bar reviews and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

The votes are in and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best: Bars & Clubs, 2010. Find readers' results in 50 categories, including an editors' pick, in this series of articles that run daily in the Bars and Clubs section of OnMilwaukee.com.

Historically speaking, Milwaukee has not been considered a strong strip club town.

Though it may never be considered on par with places like Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas or Las Vegas, Brew City has stepped up its game in terms of gentlemen's clubs.

There are more places. There are nicer places. And, some of the more strict rules seem to have eased a little bit, which is hardly surprising in an era when students at high school dances have to be warned about "grinding."

This year marks the first time OnMilwaukee.com included strip clubs in the annual readers' survey. The winner, by a substantial margin, was Silk Exotic, 11400 W. Silver Spring Dr.

Silk, located in the building that once housed the Attic West nightclub, offers a variety of nightly specials and an array of entertainers in what is described as a Las Vegas-style atmosphere.

The owners, who also operate a location in Juneau, talked about opening a sister club, Satin, at 117 W. Pittsburgh Ave.

Franklin's On the Border finished second among readers, just ahead of venerable Art's Performing Center. OnMilwaukee.com editors selected Crazy Horse, 9440 W. National Ave., as their pick. The club, formerly known as Heartbreakers, has undergone extensive renovations and is attracting a steady stream of customers to West Allis.

OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Crazy Horse

Runnersup:

2. On The Border
3. Art's Performing Center
4. Crazy Horse
5. Airport Lounge
6. Encore
7. Solid Gold
8. Spotlight
9. Cheetah Club
10. Hillside

I have to admit that I was shocked to see that Art's Performing Center was number three on your list, but as small clubs go, I think it is the best in the area. There is no cover between 7 and 9 on weekdays and the women are exceptional. What else do you need?

Been to many strip clubs. Some make you feel welcome, and some make you feel that all you are is an ATM. Silk spends lots of money to get your money, the girls not near as good as they were in the beginning. Airport Lounge is laid back fun and welcoming. The girls are great, friendly and hotter then ever. When at a strip club I'd rather be welcomed instead of hustled. Silk maybe the biggest but not the best. Solid gold and Crazy Horse are OK. The others not mentioned are not worth mentioning.

I prefer good, free Internet porn. Way cheaper and way more satisfying.

Arts...hahahahahahahaha I stopped going to s-clubs a few years ago, partly because Art's was so terribly disgusting! I'd rather pitch pennies in a fountain.
