A new lounge called BTW -- which stands for "By The Way" -- will move into the old Soho 7 space, 231 E. Buffalo St. Owner Dominic Kissinger is hoping to open the doors on Wednesday, Dec. 22.

"We’re waiting for our liquor license," he says.

Kissinger says his goal with BTW is to become "the Third Ward’s second living room." The space will be classy but cozy and feature pool tables and a small dance floor.

"We want to keep people in the Third Ward and stop pushing them onto Water Street," says Kissinger.

Prepackaged sandwiches, wraps, soft pretzels and frozen pizzas will be available, along with at least 50 bottled beer selections.

"Our motto is ‘inclusive not exclusive'," says Kissinger.

Kissinger grew up on Milwaukee’s Northwest Side, then moved to Los Angeles for eight years. He returned to Milwaukee to help an ailing family member and decided to open BTW based on an idea he had while living in California.

"I’m going for the L.A. look with the Milwaukee sensibility," he says.
