Lakefront Brewery is introducing a new beer to the public with the hope that it'll do some good – and taste good, too, of course.

This afternoon, the local brewery will announce the release of Growing Power Organic Farmhouse-Style Pale Ale, a new USDA-certified organic beer created in partnership with the Milwaukee-based nonprofit Growing Power, Inc.

Growing Power founder and CEO Will Allen and Lakefront Brewery co-founder and president Russ Klisch will formally announce the new brew Growing Power's location, 5500 W. Silver Spring Dr., at 1:30 p.m. today.

The new pale ale will be available nation-wide on draft and in six-pack cases, with a portion of the beer's proceeds going to support Growing Power's sustainable farming efforts.

Today's announcement marks the latest step in the partnership between Growing Power and Lakefront Brewery. In the past, the two companies have worked together with Growing Power using the brewery's spent grain for composting and Lakefront Brewery providing beer tastings for the nonprofit farm's seminars.

"It is hard to image anyone else in Milwaukee that shares our values more than Growing Power," Klisch said in a press release this morning.

"(The partnership is) a strong example of how two companies that work together over many years are able to demonstrate stewardship of a sustainable food system." Allen added in the release. "This sustainable food system will not only provide good food and drink to Milwaukee and beyond, but will also be a catalyst to create more jobs and economic development in our city and around the nation."

Both Lakefront Brewery and Growing Power will celebrate the new brew with a launch party at Meritage today from 6 until 8 p.m.
