The weather was frightfully frigid when the ribbon-cutting ceremony began Friday afternoon at the corner of Highway 100 and Bluemound Road.

Fortunately, participants and spectators didn’t have to walk too far for a warmup.

Irish coffee would hit the spot. So would a serving of stick-to-your-ribs shepherd’s pie and a black ‘n’ tan; or, a Reuben Boxty and a pint of Guinness. Heck, a shot of Bushmills wouldn’t hurt, either.

All of these options await visitors as Mo’s Irish Pub opens its new location in the space formerly occupied by the Ground Round.

“Mo’s Irish Pub is sure to be a popular Wauwatosa destination,” said Johnny Vassallo, who rules the Mo’s restaurant empire that includes Mo’s -- A Place for Steaks, Monsoon, Moceans and the original Mo’s Irish Pub at . “Like our Downtown location, it’s a great place to meet your friends or make some new ones and enjoy a perfect pint.”

The Wauwatosa Mo’s Irish Pub is roughly 7,000 sq. ft. and features an outdoor patio, a stage for live music and a large fireplace.

The menu features a mix of Irish and American staples. The aforementioned Reuben Boxty ($12.99) includes corned beef, sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing stuffed into a season potato pancake and covered with a creamy cheese sauce. The menu also features a selection of appetizers, salads, soups, burgers, pasta, steak and even a peppercorn seared Ahi tuna.

Bartenders will be pouring a variety of draft beers from Ireland (Guinness Stout, Smithwicks, and Harp), England (Bass, Strongbow, and Boddington’s), Belgium (Stella Artois), Germany (Hacker-Pschorr) and the US (Spotted Cow, Miller Lite, Blue Moon and Bud Light).

Bottled beers include Amstel Light, Corona, Franziskaner Weissbier, Heineken, Killian’s Irish Red and Newcastle Brown Ale.

Featured whiskeys include Black Bush, Bushmills, Bushmills Malt 10, Jameson, Jameson 1780 (12 year), Jameson Gold (18 year), Powers, Redbreast and Tullamore Dew.

As part of the opening weekend festivities, the Love Monkeys will perform at 10 p.m. Friday and the U2 tribute band U2 Zoo takes the stage Saturday.
