In continuing but so far futile efforts to open a strip club in Downtown Milwaukee, the owners of Silk Exotic have filed another application for a tavern license.

The Milwaukee Common Council has turned down two previous requests (in 2010 and 2012) by Silk's owners to open new clubs  in Downtown and in Walker's Point. Complaints from neighbors and opposition from Downtown leaders have played a big role in the decisions.

Milwaukee currently has one gentlemen's club Downtown as Art's Performing Center, operating at 144 E. Juneau Ave. just off Water Street.

Silk Exotic runs two clubs in Wisconsin, one on the far northwest side of Milwaukee and another in Juneau.

A date has not yet been set for the first public hearing on Silk's latest application.
