Tonight, you'll find the best of the old and freshest of the new in the DJ world.

You can ride in on a new event on the Eastside or join a celebration three years in the making down in Bay View. Regardless of which end of the city beats your drum, promises abound to hear a long lineup of great Dj's coupled with local event entrepreneurs working to get Milwaukee up, riding around town and dancing all night long.

For the third time since its inception, "Late Night Bike" provides bikers with a new way to ride-- with a crew in the dark. A national concept pulled to the local level, the rides meet at a specified Milwaukee location and winds throughout city streets and bike trails. For tonight's ride, bikers meet at the North Point Water Tower starting at 11 p.m.

But it's not just about the ride. Like the two prior events, the ride ends in an opportune neighborhood offering a selection of DJ shows. Tonight, bikers end up on North Avenue for shows at Live on North and the Y-Not II; each one listing a full DJ line-up.

In Bay View, WiscoJazz Fridays celebrate three years of local and regional beats.

Spinning everything from retro disco to deep house to underground hip-hop and funky soul, DJ's lukewarm, Edd Reynolds, and DJB jump started the collective back in the summer of 2004 and have spent Friday nights for the last three years spinning records at The Highbury Pub.

Week after week they've lured some of the city's and region's hot tempo DJ's to come out and play for a night. Tonight, they celebrate their own right, with dozens of supporting DJs, to sustain a venue weekly year after year.

"It's an all-encompassing, genre-defying, groovy sound. I play and book all types of music every Friday; from downtempo to reggae and dub, to just straight up party jams. It'll be different every week and that's what I think people love about it. You never know what to expect and it's not too monotonous," says Luke Balzrina, WiscoJazz's DJ lukewarm.

The Three Year Anniversary Party poses a friendly battle between several area DJs-- lukewarm, Edd Reynolds, DJB, Kris Kleinbeck, Donger, Feed Me, Neyno, TJK, Dj Q, Brian Small, T.Rza, Mr. Timms, Marcus Aurelius and Chase Teter-- all to reminisce the great times and skills WiscoJazz Fridays have come to represent.

"I've gathered a lot of the DJ "heroes" that have stopped through there over the last three years to all DJ together. There's about a dozen of them and we'll all be "taggin" throughout the night. The music will be geared towards deep house music and disco, so bring your dancin' shoes!" Balzrina says.

After a brief stint of travel, Maureen joined OnMilwaukee.com as the city’s oldest intern and has been hooked ever since. Combining her three key infatuations, Milwaukee’s great music, incredible food and inspiring art (and yes, in that order), Maureen’s job just about fits her perfectly.

Residing in Bay View, Maureen vehemently believes the city can become fresh and new with a simple move across town.
