O'Brien's Pub
4928 W. Vliet St.
(414) 453-6200

Although it's technically not a sports bar, few establishments see more people enjoying the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat than O'Brien's.

Given the location across from Wick Field and a strong cadre of regular customers belonging to softball, kickball and flag football teams, O'Brien's is a popular stop for post-game post-mortems.

If you're not on a team, you can find live music on winter weekends and a vibe that is casual, but energetic.

Menu: O'Brien's offers more than a dozen beers on tap, including Harp, Smithwick's, Guinness, Bass, Stella Artois, Miller High Life, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Newcastle, Blue Moon and various Leinenkugel selections. In addition to libations, the bar offers a menu of sandwiches, salads and appetizers.

Price: Moderate to cheap. O'Brien's regularly runs drink specials, but pitchers of beer seem to be the most popular item on the menu.

When to go: Any time is a good time for O'Brien's. The bar is so large that you don't have to worry about being claustrophobic. Even on crowded weekend nights, there is plenty of room to move around.

Dress: Think "casual" and then take it down a notch or two. On many nights, you'll be rubbing elbows with people straight from the softball diamond, volleyball court or kickball field.

Don't miss: For the past few years, O'Brien's has offered shuttle service to Brewers games at Miller Park.

Parking: In addition to on-street parking nearby, patrons can take advantage of ample parking in the Wick Field lot just across Vliet Street.
