Yes, today is National Rum Day. It's a day in which it's more OK than ever to enjoy the quaff made from sweet cane sugar. Here are a few recipes to help you unwind after a long day at work and celebrate America's day of rum.

You can try these with Ron Abuelo Anejo – made by third-generation family-owned Panamanian company Varela Hermanos – which is aged in oak and has an alluring amber color and sweet coconut and spicy vanilla flavors swirling around. But, really, you don't even need to mix the Anejo; it works really nicely neat or on the rocks.

But, it's rum day, so try it that way and in these cococtions, too...

EARLY RISER

  • 1-1/2 ounce rum
  • 1/2 ounce Jumbie Coconut Splash
  • 1 ounce fresh mango juice
  • 1 ounce pineapple juice

Pour ingredients into an iced-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a tall glass. Garnish with maraschino cherries and orange slices.

ABUELORITA

  • 2 ounces rum
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

Pour ingredients into an iced-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into an ice filled rocks glass. Garnish with lime wedge.

ABUELO SPARKLER

  • 4 ounces sparkling wine
  • Ginger ale

Pour Anejo and sparkling wine into a tall glass and top with ginger ale.

LORD PANAMA
