After the success of last year's traveling beer garden – selling more than 35,000 beers, nearly 6,000 sodas and 2,300 root beer floats, in the process raising almost $250,000 toward improving Milwaukee County's parks – County Executive Chris Abele announced today that a second traveling beer garden tour will be added for the upcoming summer season.

The second beer garden truck means that each stop on the eight-week tour will feature two parks. The current schedules goes as follows:

  • May 20-31: Whitnall/Root River Area #1 Shelter and Dretzka Chalet
  • June 3-14: Froemming Park and Gordon Park
  • June 16-28: Grant Park and Doctors Park
  • July 1-12: Juneau Park and Sheridan Park
  • July 15-26: Greenfield Park and Mitchell Park Domes Plaza
  • July 29-Aug. 9: Holler Park and Brown Deer Boathouse
  • Aug. 12-Aug. 23: Falk Park and Red Arrow Park
  • Aug. 26-Sept. 7: Whitnall/Root River Area #1 Shelter and Greene Park

Just last like year, the stops will feature Sprecher Brewing beer and other refreshments. However, new to the tour this year is authentic German food made available by Sprecher's Restaurant & Pub.

"We’ve had people from across the county asking to have the traveling beer garden visit their community," Abele said. "While we can’t visit every park, we will double the excitement this summer by adding another traveling beer garden. These beer gardens make our parks safer, more fun and bring in extra money to improve parks across the county. As I’ve done since taking office, we’re making parks better and finding ways to do it sustainably."
