Does the thought of a sour cherry porter turn you on? Horny Goat hopes so.

I'd tap this

On Friday, Feb. 1, The Horny Goat Hideaway will debut a 10-barrel run of oak barrel-aged sour cherry porter, a brew that will be available for a limited time at its Milwaukee-based brewpub.

It will be available starting Feb. 1 at 5 p.m. and the Horny Goat will host a free sampling from 5 to 6 p.m.

The porter has been aging for seven months. It is made with Door County cherries and because it was aged in barrels, it will have flavors from Don Q Rum which was aged in the barrels prior. The porter has a distinct vanilla and caramel complexity.

Sour cherry porter will be served at the Hideaway on nitro, which will add body and influence the mouth-feel and overall experience of the beer, according to brew master Dave Reese.

Later in February, the brewery plans to release another seasonal called Baby Got Bock.

I for one love Horny Goat beer. I think they do a great job of giving people a good variety of beer to choose from while not going overboard with the flavors. 95% of the people who bash Horny Goat's beer order a Miller Lite at the bar. If they're feeling wild, they up the ante to a Miller High Life. The fact of the matter is, someone who drinks light beer isn't going to like craft beers. It's like me complaining about a product I will never use. Anywho, I'm looking forward to trying this Sour Cherry Porter. May not turn out to be a beer to drink all night but I love a little variety. P.S. Their bar is pretty awesome.

HG is making solid beer these days. I've been to their bar a couple times this year since they started free sampling on weekdays, so I've had almost everything they make. This is kind of a surprise that they did an aged porter. I'll be there tomorrow to taste it for sure.

I don't drink beer, so I can't comment on that however I always question the motives of people who publically rip local businesses that create jobs and contribute to the tax base. What are you accomplishing? Live and let live. The free market will decide for itself.
