If you hadn't noticed, yesterday was April 1, a.k.a. April Fool's Day, and as always, the OnMilwaukee.com editorial staff attempted to provide a few laughs in the spirit of the day. First and foremost, we thank the subjects of the stories for being such good sports.

Secondly, we couldn't help but be amazed that the first Talkbacker of the day didn't question the fact that the Nomad was reportedly sold for ... wait for it ... $22.5 million!! Now, we love the Nomad as much as anyone and we agree it's an East Side landmark. But $22.5 million for a Brady Street tavern? The joke, we thought, was clear from the headlines. And we've done this gag every year for the last 10 years.

You'll also be happy to know that Joe Bartolotta assures me he's NOT closing Mr. B's Steak House and that he has no plans to add any leprechaun games to that fine restaurant. But before the morning was over, Joe received at least four phone calls from concerned customers lamenting the fictional changes.

We made sure we gave some to ourselves this time 'round, too, and the blog about how much we suck drew more Talkbacks than any other story.

We know we're not The Onion, but that doesn't mean we can't all have a little fun. We hope you enjoyed April Fool's half as much as we did.
