It was 40 years ago today that Man first stepped foot on the moon.
There will be plenty of specials and documentaries on television tonight, but one of the cooler anniversary specials is going on right now on NASA's Web site.
The space agency is replaying the original Apollo 11 mission audio - in its entirety and in real time - all day long (and, in fact has been since "launch" and will continue until "splashdown" on Saturday.
As of right now, about 98 hours into the mission, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are going over Lunar Lander checks as they orbit the Moon and prepare for descent.
There's a lot of techno mumbo-jumbo and such, but things should be heating up this afternoon, especially around 10 p.m., when Neil Armstrong takes his "one small step" onto the Moon's surface.
To listen, you'll need to have Flash and the Windows Media Plug-In installed. In addition to the flight audio, NASA has a lot of special features to commemorate the historic event on a special Apollo 11 Anniversary page.

Crazy, cool stuff. To Mars next. Oddly, it's also the 40th anniversary of Sen. Ted Kennedy and his Chappaquiddick Island "incident."
