A look at Milwaukee's ghost signs kicks off new "Collage" series

OnMilwaukee is honored to present the first in a new series called "Collage."

It's an innovative, locally produced Plaid Tuba production and a collaboration between Honeycomb Productions, Reginald Baylor Studios and Button Down.

This first video is the concept pilot for the series. It's curated by local filmmaker Kurt Raether of Honeycomb Productions and features artist Faythe Levine, Michael Drescher, CEO of Okanjo, Historic Milwaukee's Anna Marie-Opgenorth and Adam Carr from Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service discussing ghost signs in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

Spaces & Traces 2013

Since 1981, when Historic Walker`s Point, Inc., held its Loft Spaces and Historic Traces, the annual Spaces & Traces tour has opened the doors of Milwaukee homes and historic spaces to the public. The 32nd installment of the event, held Saturday, May 18, features Shorewood.

Milwaukier than thou

Adam Carr, 28, recently launched a Facebook and Tumblr project called "Milwaukier Than Thou" which offers a fresh, unique look at Brew City.

Roosevelt shooting

Historic Milwaukee, Inc. hosts "To Kill A Bull Moose: The Attempted Assassination of Theodore Roosevelt, 100 Years Later," Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Mayor Tom Barrett will take part in the event, which kicks off at 3 p.m. with a re-enactment of the shooting at the hotel`s east entrance, where German immigrant John Schrank shot Roosevelt during a presidential speech at the Hotel Gilpatrick in 1912.

"Here, Mothers Are."

Searching out inspiring city gardens has become a new hobby for me this summer, and my current favorite is located between 24th and 25th and Locust Streets. It`s called "Here, Mothers Are."
