A mistake made by the city Thursday night during snow removal efforts on the East Side will result in voided citations for many residents.

The DPW posted temporary no parking signs along portions of N. Farwell, Prospect and Oakland Avenues Thursday to clear those routes of snow from the blizzard that hit the city last week.

Vehicles parked on the East Side of Prospect Avenue between North Avenue and Ogden Street were ticketed and towed due to improperly-placed signs.

The DPW released a statement Friday evening addressing the issue:

"The Department apologizes for the inconvenience to our constituents that resulted from vehicles being ticketed and towed due to that confusion. To that end, the Department will void all citations and tow fees for vehicles that were towed from the east side of Prospect Avenue between North Avenue and Ogden Streets during the snow cleanup operation. Residents who have already paid their tow fees and citations will automatically receive reimbursement."

If you were towed and have not yet picked up your vehicle, you can do so at the City Tow Lot, 3811 W. Lincoln Ave. The lot will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
