IKEA announced today that Franklin Fire Station #1 has been selected as one of the top five finalists in The Family Handyman Rescue Remodel Contest, sponsored by the Swedish retail giant.

The station is Franklin's main firehouse and also serves as the venue for meetings, tours and public education events. The station's kitchen underwent a previous remodel but is "now quickly falling apart," says a news release.

Winning The Family Handyman Remodel Contest would mean a kitchen remodel valued at $25,000, complete with state-of-the-art IKEA designs.

The public can vote in the contest from now until March 30 at RescueRemodel.com.

The contest is in its second year and aims to give back to deserving groups around the country, including firehouses, boys and girls clubs and soup kitchens.
