Diablos Rojos Restaurant Group hopes to help lend a charitable hand as it hosts a couture fashion show and fundraiser at its Parisian-inspired establishment, Trocadero, at 1758 N. Water St., on Sunday at 6 p.m.
Proceeds from the evening benefit Charity Water, a non-profit organization that helps bring clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
The show, co-sponsored by OnMilwaukee.com, is the first in a series of fashion and music events named FLOW (Fashion Lovers Offering Water). All events raise funds for Charity Water.
The evening's events include dinner, drinks and the latest fashions and jewelry for this spring. Cost is $10 (VIP tickets available for $60), and the show begins at 8 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.).
According to Charity Water's statistics, 4,500 children in these nations die daily from water-related diseases. The majority of these fatal diseases can easily be prevented through the use and consumption of clean water. For a cost of $5,000, Charity Water can drill a clean-water well able to provide clean, drinkable water for up to 20 years.
Dozens of local businesses have signed on to assist in sponsoring the event through donations of time and resources. The list of sponsors and donors includes Aala Reed, Shop and Neroli Salon and Spa. The show will feature designer clothing and jewelry worn by Ford runway models.
