It's May and spring has sprung. Here's our monthly look at some hot scoop in and around Milwaukee.

SUMMER FIREWORKS
We all know that it's practically illegal NOT to have a fireworks show happening during a summer weekend in Milwaukee! We never miss the Firstar Fireworks, but this year the Riversplash fireworks -- located at the Milwaukee River, downtown -- will be a real sight to see and an event in and of themselves. Don't miss them!

TAKE THE TROLLEY TO POTAWATOMI
Beginning May 25, you will be able to take one of Milwaukee County Transit Company's friendly and inexpensive trolleys from downtown to the Potawatomi Bingo and Casino in the Menomonee Valley. It will be an easy way for residents and tourist to check out Potawatomi's shows, gaming and restaurants!

NICE WHEELS
The Porsche Club of America is coming to Milwaukee in June. Watch for details of a big parade -- slated for June 29 -- featuring some of the classiest cars ever made.

MILWAUKEE ARCHITECTURE DRAWS ATTENTION
People are talking about architecture in Milwaukee. While the Calatrava-designed Milwaukee Art Museum expansion got coverage in April's Art News (written by Jim Auer of the Journal Sentinel) and in the June issue of The Atlantic Monthly, the Milwaukee-based firm of La Dallmann Architects were featured in the April issue of Architectural Record. The husband and wife team of Grace La and James Dallmann is working on a number of projects in town, including a residential tower downtown and a pedestrian bridge linking Brady St. with the north bank of the river.

NEW COFFEE FOR YOU
The Starbucking of Milwaukee continues. Watch for one to open in the Wisconsin Gas Building, 626 E. Wisconsin Ave. soon and Starbucks also is looking at Grand Avenue, specifically the ASQ Center (former Marshall Field's building).

THANKS, MAYOR
OnMilwaukee.com is featured in a new presentation from the Mayor's Office. The presentation touts Milwaukee as an emerging technology city and talks up our ever-growing status as a hip and cool city. OnMilwaukee.com won't take all the credit for this, but we are every day "helping Milwaukee help itself."

JAZZ AIN'T IN THE PARK
This year, Jazz in the Park isn't "Jazz in the Park." It's Cathedral Park Jazz presented by the Parks Foundation. Don't ask why. It's a long story and full of way too much politics. OnMilwaukee.com is proud to be a sponsor of this "new" event!

SEQUELS
The Nomad's owners have bought Sequels,1758 N. Water St. More details as we know them.

WELCOME HOME DENIS
On Sat., June 2 you can welcome home The Wisconsin Lake Schooner's S/V Denis Sullivan as it sails home into Milwaukee Harbor! It's a beautiful big ship. Call (414) 276-7700.

NEW BREW
Look for Onopa Brewing Company to open its doors at 735 E. Center St., in June. It's a welcome addition to the Center Street and Riverwest neighborhoods.

SCOOTERS
Speaking of Center St., 1012 motowerx is the only place in town to buy Kymco scooters. Scooters are coming back in many other bigger cities, and slowly but surely you will begin to see more of them in Milwaukee, too. Good news for those of you who still have your Sprees! Call 1012 motowerx at (414) 265-1012.

TWO TRENDY
Elsa's exterior renovation is complete, and Cush on North Ave. is sporting some cool new garage doors that compliment its recent rehab.

BUT WHY NOT THREE?
Yes, that's right, there's a Y-NOT III in the works and it looks to be happening behind Beans & Barley on E. Kenilworth Pl., in a space that has been home to a number of restaurants in the past, but has been vacant for quite some time. It'll be a nice addition to the neighborhood. But folks at the Y-NOT II are keeping their lips sealed, saying only that more information can be expected in the next few months. In the meantime, construction work seems to be taking place already.

RAVING UP & OUT? NAH.
Word on the street has been that the House of Blues may make a move into Milwaukee by taking over The Rave, 2401 W. Wisconsin Ave. The folks at The Rave, however, vehemently deny that there has ever been any talk of such a deal. So, stop spreading it around, woodja.
