Have you seen what they're charging for gas?
Just in time for the holiday weekend -- $4.19 a gallon.

What is a blog? For us it is a short blurb that we write when the mood strikes us. It can be first person, funny or informative. In short, a blog is whatever we want it to be. Published May 23, 2008 at 3:48 p.m.

It always shocked me that the oil companies could jack up prices just in time for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Labor Day and pretty much get away with it.

But, I never complained.

Gas prices have been skyrocketing for several months now. I still didn't complain.

Until now.

I'm not planning to drive very much over the weekend, but I feel badly for those who are. When I drove by the local gas station this afternoon, I had to pull in. It's not that I wanted to get gas -- you need a second mortgage for that these days -- I just wanted to take a picture of the sign.

It's not every day that you see gas priced at $4.19 a gallon. I figured I would take a picture. In a few months, prices may drift downward and we'll look at this as a high point.

Conversely, prices could continue to surge and we'll look back and say, "Remember when it was only $4.19?

Either way, I figured it was worth documenting with a picture.

At some point, probably in the next few days, I'm going to have to go back and put some gas in my tank. When that happens, I'll resist the urge to take out my frustration on the gas station clerks. It's not their fault. If any gas station owners are reading this, however, I have a simple request:

Please remove the fractions from the gas prices you post outside. It's not helping anybody's morale and we don't have any coins worth 9/10ths of a cent.
