Milwaukee's Metropawlis pet boutique makes it big in Hollywood

Milwaukee's Metropawlis -- the "unique boutique for the urban pet" -- got its start on Brady Street in late '03, moved to the Third Ward in spring '06 and has now arrived in tinsel town.

Actually, Hollywood came to them. Owners Augie and Geri Ray tell us that they were asked to provide items from their store, as well as justpetstroller.com -- one of their online boutiques -- in a celebrity suite at this year's Emmy Awards. The company provided a Happy Trails Pet Stroller and a Pet Gear Ultralight Pet Stroller to the EXTRA Awards Lounge, which drew stars such as Tori Spelling, Alana Stewart, Alyson Hannigan, Cheryl Hines, Jai Rodriquez, Kathy Griffin, Maggie Grace, Ming Na and Tia Carrere.

A few days later staffers from NBC's "My Name is Earl" called to order a Kittywalk Pink Pet Stroller for an upcoming episode. The Rays are unsure as to when the Milwaukee-made pet stroller will make its silver screen debut.

Augie said: This is Augie from Metropawlis. Thanks for blurb! Wanted to correct the URL: JustPetStrollers.com (with an "s"). As for the comment posted about walking the dog, certainly dogs need exercise! Pet strollers aren't for everyone. They're great for older dogs and people with cats, for example. Some people with smaller dogs buy a pet stroller because their dogs cannot take longer walks--they can walk them part of the way and then stroll the rest. We sell pet strollers to people in cities who don't feel safe getting their dog to and from the park on city streets. Pet strollers are also great for taking your pets to very busy environments such as outdoor festivals. This is not a product for everyone or every pet, but many people with pets have a use for pet strollers!
