Milwaukee Public Television airs two new programs in November, "Native American Cooking from the Fancy Dance Café" and "The Spiritual Patient."

"Native American Cooking," airing Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m., touches on the first Thanksgiving as well as Native American culture. Chippewa Indian Jim DeNomie, a producer for MPTV's "Outdoor Wisconsin" as well as Chicago radio program "Voices from the Circle," produced and hosts the special.

Victor Zamora, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee chef and an Apache Indian, joins DeNomie to share some traditional and new Native American recipes. Wade Fernandez, Menominee Indian and well-known musician, plays the flute and guitar in the show.

The show reruns Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. and Thanksgiving Day at 11 a.m.

For anyone willing to supplement Western healthcare with Eastern holistic methods, "The Spiritual Patient," airing Nov. 22 at 7 p.m., documents the growing trend of using spiritual and ancient methods in conjunction with contemporary medicine.

The program shows specifically how people can take advantage of these methods in the Milwaukee area, with interviews from a Catholic nun that offers natural healing to the Latino community and health care providers that use both contemporary and ancient healing techniques.
