Today, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking responses from developers interested in rehabilitating a number of the Milwaukee Soldiers Home District's unused historic buildings (Building 2-Old Main, Building 1-Administration Building, Building 14-Catholic Chaplains Quarters, and Buildings 18, 19 and 62-Personal Quarters Buildings) using Enhanced Use Leases (EULs).

You can view the RFP here. Responses to the RFP are due by 11:00 a.m. EST on May 18.

EULs would allow the District's vacant buildings to be leased long-term, restored and used to provide housing for veterans who are homeless or who are at risk of homelessness. At this time, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance believe Enhanced Use Leases (EULs) are the most promising way to restore and return these unused buildings to the service of veterans.
