If you've listened to WLUM-FM 102.1 today, you've noticed a change. The station is playing 2- to 5-second tidbits of songs back-to-back-to-back for extended periods of time. Within the music blocks an announcer reads "Quick 102, the revolutionary radio station for your lifestyle and just your favorite parts of your favorite songs." Other announcrements contrast the station with "The Hog" and mention the number of "songs" played per hour.
The music mix is only a bit different than the station's typical alternative mix. The Web site for the station also is under construction.
Stay tuned, if you can handle it.
Update: (posted Tuesday at 5 p.m.)
The "switch" is here and FM 102.1 is now calling itself Independent. Alternative. Radio. An "All Things Alternative Weekend" starts Friday at 5 p.m.

Your station is just like the other junk out there. The same songs over and over. If your an alternative station why not play newer music. Taproot, Blindside, Fair to Midland, Atreyu, Onesidezero? Why not step up and play new bands instead of joining all the other classic rock stations in the area. I do like the morning show because you actually play music instead of talking for three hours. Milwaukee needs a real station and your as close to it as we have.

Alan J said: I'm 51, enjoy listening to 102.1 rather than listenng to all of the other talking heads on the radio. Quick 102 was funny for 5 minutes, but quickly became so annoying I had to tune out. Stunt or not you pissed everyone off.

RE Janet: said: Call up and request more! I did and the new dj said that the previous station manager junked a lot of they stuff they had left from the 90s including lots of female stuff. However, I did hear them play Letters to Cleo. Anyway the dj said they will keep adding whatever people request so go for it!!

Janet said: It's a bit different but they still don't play ANY female artists. What, chicks are not alternative and independent? Come now.
