On Saturday, Jan. 10, Sherman Perk Coffee Shop will host "Racial Healing Part 3," a celebration of Sherman Park neighborhood and community. The event runs from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the local coffee shop, located at 4924 W. Roosevelt Dr., with $1 off drinks beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The event – facilitated by "A Safe Place to Talk About Race" author Sharon E. Davis and presented by Burleigh Street Community Development Corporation, Sherman Park Community Association, Inc. in partnership with Sherman Park residents – will center on the theme of "Why Sherman Park Matters 2015" with a live social media contest based around the prompt of "Why I Love Sherman Park."

Those participating are invited to bring stories, photos or some sort of artistic demonstration (poetry, music, dance, etc.) of the importance of Sherman Park to share at the event. People can also post their entries through the event's website.

The previous two "Racial Healing" events – both also hosted at Sherman Perk Coffee Shop – served as dialogues and discussions on the concept of racial healing.
