Sarah Brucker is stepping down as the owner of Blush Beauty Boutique at 249 N. Water St. The boutique's two retail locations will remain open with new owner Jhousy Leon.

Brucker says she is moving on to other business endeavors, including her new business, Brucker Beauty. She will also act as a brand consultant for several clients in the Midwest.

Blush Beauty Boutique opened in 2004. "I sensed the beginning of a renaissance taking place downtown and I wanted to be a part of it," says Brucker in a news release. "At the same time I wanted to create a place where you could put your best face forward. That was Blush."

Brucker, a Milwaukee native, worked as a make-up artist on the East and West Coast before returning home to found what became the first retail store to carry boutique-brand personal care products.

"I want to personally thank each and every one of you who has supported Blush through thick and thin and made the business what it is today," Brucker says. "You put us on the map in the beauty world and I will forever be grateful."

Leon is a friend of Brucker's. "I am proud to be passing the torch to someone who cares so much about the Blush business and clients," she tells OnMilwaukee.com.
