Over the past decade, many young drinkers -- especially those of the hipster variety -- picked Pabst Blue Ribbon as their beer of choice. It's still popular in Brew City, even though the company's history in Milwaukee is, some think, somewhat spotty.

It's been more than 10 years since the Pabst Brewery closed in Brew City, and some folks still feel dissed by Pabst because the company ended retiree health and death benefits of 774 former Pabst employees. Then, this summer, Pabst Brewing Co. executives considered Milwaukee for the company's relocated headquarters, but instead chose the Chicago area.

However, in many social circles, Pabst is still super popular, suggesting that politics really don't matter when it comes to beer. So what is it about Pabst that so many people adore? The crisp taste? The patriotic label? The catchy taglines? ("PBR me ASAP" and those a wee bit older will remember "What'll you have?")

Great question. I have noticed this a lot since moving here from Chicago. I went to see a couple of shows at the Pabst Theater and people sat in their seats like they were at a movie instead of a live music venue.

I love to dance, but a lot of times I don't because no one else is dancing and I don't want to be the sole freak on the dance floor. Come on, Milwaukee, shake it !

I was at the Mad Planet last night and the dance floor was filled with people dancing, so I don't think there's a dancing deficiency in Milwaukee at all.
