Originally, MySpace dominated the cyber social network world, but over the past few years, Facebook has gained acclaim and snagged lots of MySpacers.
Today, there are 58 million people on Facebook, and on MySpace, the 100 millionth account was opened in August 2006. Facebook may have fewer users because, originally, only Harvard students could join. Later, the membership opened up to other colleges and, eventually, anyone in the world 13 or older. MySpace was open to the general public from day one.
Most people who access these networks have a preference for one or the other. So which do you prefer, Facebook, MySpace or neither?
Facebook. The layout on Facebook is much cleaner and easier to look at. Because MySpace allows so much customization of an individual's page, many of the pages are ugly and / or unreadable. Facebook, on the other hand, looks very organized. Most people on Facebook add friends who are truly people they know, whereas on MySpace, it's more about who can have the most friends, regardless of who the people are. Facebook has fewer technical problems, too. In short, MySpace was cool for a while, but now there's too much spam and lame cyber stalkers, making Facebook the top choice.
MySpace. MySpace allows members to customize their pages, making it a more artistic experience than Facebook. Plus, it's easier to navigate around on MySpace, and because there are simply more people on MySpace, members have a better chance of finding the people or groups they seek. Also, MySpace is a more productive tool for self-promotion, especially musicians. (It seems every band has a MySpace page.) MySpace is and always will be the top social network on the Web.
Neither. I think they are both a big waste of time. Get away from your computers, people, and spend time with your real friends.

Well I can't really say myspace is better/my choice site or facebook either. Because neither is better than the other as a whole at the moment. So I will break down a few items about both 1. Support/Help: FACEBOOK gets my vote as they usally respond within 48hrs to a week at most. The response from Facebook also is usually not some automated 'we are working on it. be patient' like myspace does. Facebook usally actually tries to help you solve your issue and they also love suggestions. Myspace on the other hand used to get back to you right away the first 2 years after it launched but now since the big company bought into myspace you are lucky if you get an automated response within a few months of emailing them. Dude I been waiting 2 months or more for them to fix the music sections search link and they havent emailed me back about it. I think I'm being very patient but somehow Myspace doesnt think so. Go figure. Lastly, when you want to send an email to Tom Of Myspace you NEVER can as he is ALWAYS in away mode and not accepting msgs anymore. Music Section: MYSPACE gets my vote here. However if Facebook had a music section like Myspace's and it was easy to search for music types/list of bands/search for bands then I think Myspace would die totally and everyone would move over to Facebook. Search Feature: I think both have plus and minuses here. I think although it is easier to find music and other stuff on Myspace I still give it to Facebook though as there search engines almost always work and are hardly ever down. Unlike myspace who are lazy and don't fix the problems with their search engines so you always get error msgs when you try to do a search. Spam/Bots/Etc Control: FACEBOOK wins hands down. Very rarely have I recieved any form of spam or unwanted stuff sent to me on facebook. However I do think as far as groups on facebook they need to step it up there as I see ppl joining there to post spam on the comment walls semi-alot recently. Until Myspace does something about all the spam and fake profiles, etc they will never win. Who else is sick of all the ringtone ads, you won a macys 500 dollar card or check out my porn site emails sent to your Myspace inbox? I know I am. So in closing...At the rate Myspace is failing more and more to fix stuff, their lack of trying to make site run better and lack of adding new features/tweaks to compete with Facebook, etc if you ask me this time next year I just may say Facebook is better and my site of choice. Thanks for listening to me ramble on in response to the 'Sunday Sound-off: Myspace or Facebook?' article.

MySpace is an extremely useful networking tool for individual musicians and bands. I don't think of it as a "social" networking site; that part is overrated. As far as Facebook goes...Facebook went out of its way to show me a co-worker's site (who is my superior) and let's just say, it was a little too much information, and I really don't care who has been "super-pokin'" whom.

Facebook for sure!! Myspace is garbage and, you are correct, is really hard to look at. This internet is crazy!
