The future of Stepping Out Productions, which organizes an annual cabaret series in Milwaukee, is in doubt as its artistic director Tom Stajmiger announced in an email today that he is leaving Milwaukee to take a job in Washington, D.C.

Stajmiger said he will continue to work on the cabaret series shows already scheduled but that the future of the company remains a question mark.

"I believe Stepping Out Productions will be shutting its doors," he wrote. "I am working with another partner on a project to potentially build a new theatrical space in this area, so who knows, perhaps I will return again sometime down the road."
