The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin announced yesterday that its 47th annual St. Patrick's Day parade will be held on Saturday, March 9 at noon.

The parade will begin at Wisconsin Avenue and Old World Third Street and will showcase 125 units including Irish dance groups, pipe and drum corps and local celebrities and dignitaries.

The Friends of St. Patrick, in partnership with the Hunger Task Force, will collect non-perishable food donations during the parade.

Milwaukee's St. Patrick's day parade is the sixth oldest in the nation and dates back to 1843, predating even Wisconsin statehood. The Shamrock Club has been producing the event for 47 years.
