Update: Shooter, six others dead in Sikh temple shooting
Seven are confirmed dead – including a shooter – and three have been injured in the shooting at Oak Creek's Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, 7512 S. Howell Ave.
According to new information from Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards, the shooter has been confirmed dead. There are no additional suspects in custody. It is believed the shooter found on the scene acted alone.
All individuals have been cleared from the temple.
The shooting was first reported to Oak Creek police dispatch by multiple 911 calls around 10:25 a.m. Sunday morning. Two of the initial officers on the scene exchanged gunfire with a shooter outside of the building.
One of the responding officers is currently being treated at Froedtert Hospital for multiple gunshot wounds, as well as two civilians. All three are still in critical condition.
The incident is being treated as a domestic terrorist incident. Details on the shooter are still unavailable due to ongoing criminal investigation efforts.
