Editor's note: Yaffa now predicts to open Dec. 15th.
Update: OMC has learned that Yaffa expects to open the final weekend of November. The long-vacant Riverwalk restaurant space in the Cawker Building, 108 W. Wells St., that we first reported on in July will be home to the new restaurant, means "beautiful" in Hebrew.
Owner John Chitko is overseeing the remodeling of the space which includes new windows along the Riverwalk and is working on the menu for the new restaurant that will have a "New York meets Mediterranean" feel, with dinner seating for 58. He also plans 20 more seats in a bar and lounge area. There will also be patio access on the Riverwalk.

s said: My husband took me to Yaffa on Friday night for dinner. This was our very firt time there. We were disappointed with our experience. The waitress was not very attentive or helpful in providing details or suggestions about the menu. We ordered the lab dish and did not expect it to be soooooooo sweet. It was a very unpleasent surprise. So we asked for the Salmon, which turned out to be raw from the inside with sweet flavors as well. Portions are small and entrees are pricey. Atmosphere is nice though. We will not go there again.
