This December, Alterra Coffee Roasters will open three kiosks at General Mitchell International Airport at terminals C and D, and the pre-security area of the airport.
The Alterra kiosks will serve specialty drinks and homemade baked goods. Two of the three kiosks will offer select food items, including breakfast burritos and sandwiches.
Two Starbucks kiosks will close, but the Starbucks cafe will remain in the airport.
During the month of November, staff for the new kiosks will train at Alterra cafes around the city.

Hooray - finally. I was just traveling and bemoaning the fact that there was no Alterra at our airport. Buh bye Starbucks!

I am not critizing Alterra - I love them and support them every day no lie!! I am being critical of the fact they are putting 3 stands in an airport that is losing a lot of flights and people. Should of done it years back before Midwest went belly up.

Get used to the world of blogs dude. People post information based on their personal agenda. My business has been a victim recently. People need to understand the consequences of unfairly criticizing these restaurants. Personally, I give them credit for doing something positive in the airport and community. I'm a big fan of small business.

Such great news! Please we don't need Debbie Downers out there telling us it's a bad thing. This is AWESOME news. They have the best scones! I often fly out of the D concourse and the selection of food is terrible (pizza hut express and big apple bagels...gross). Also, I agree that the Amtrak station needs something. I suggest a POTBELLY's! Yum!

What a joke. With Midwest going basically under, the airport will see it's record setting passenger numbers fall dramatically. Alterra should of just done one not three.
