It's been a long road already for Orry and Chef Gregory Leon, owners of Amilinda, the restaurant that began as a pop-up concept. And, thanks to delays in the process (no surprise to most restaurant owners), the road will be just a bit longer yet.

In a Facebook post earlier today, the Leons announced that they'll push back the opening date for their restaurant at 315 E Wisconsin Ave.

"Due to unforeseen construction issues with our landlord’s portion of the build-out, as well as delays within the city processes, we have been left with no other choice but to push back the opening of Amilinda," the post read.

"We are continually grateful for all the support we receive from our families, friends and the city of Milwaukee and we look forward to finally being able to serve you all in August."

Originally scheduled to open for friends and family on July 18, the tentative date for the restaurant to open to the public is now Aug 4.

Amilinda will feature a variety of seasonal dishes influenced by the flavors of Spain, Portugal and the southern U.S.

Hours will be Tuesday through Thursday, 5-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 11 p.m. The restaurant will begin with dinner service, but will eventually open for lunch as well as brunch.

For updates, follow Amilinda on Twitter and Facebook. Also, stay tuned to OnMilwaukee for a preview of the space and restaurant.
