After three years of business, Annona Bistro, 2643 S. Kinnickinic Ave., quietly closed on Sunday. According to co-owner Stacy Stangarone, the demise of the business was a long time coming.

"We've had so much support from everyone, and great reviews, but it has been a struggle since we opened," says Stangarone.

The bistro served pizzas, sandwiches and fresh salads inspired by Stangarone's travels in the Czech Republic, Croatia and France.

"This (restaurant) has been our life," says Stangarone, who owned the business with her husband, Joe.

Wow. This is really too bad. I was a fan of Annona's atmosphere and food. And, when I had company, we made it a point to go to their wonderful breakfasts. The service was great, the advertising and design work stellar, the food both unique and good, and the atmosphere wonderful. Annona will be missed.

you are allowed to vent your frustrations after a restaurant closes...but where were you when a restaurant could have used good critical feedback? If this was in your back yard and you didn't approve of the menu - why wouldn't you say anything. From meeting Stacy and her staff - they were always open to new food ideas and interested in what we had to say be it critical or complimentary. It is mean-spirited to kick someone while they are down. When a family puts their life into something and it doesn't work out it is probably not the time to tell them "Your food SUCKED!" Criticize but don't be a jerk about it. Bay View has lost another dining experience that will be truly missed. And a smiling face that will not be seen again making great breakfast paninis at the Farmer's Market. Stacy - my wife and I wish you the best - you had a great run...and we are sorry that things didn't work out. Good luck and don't read what these jerks are venting. Let them try to open a restaurant in this economy.

Awful awful awful! the service was terrible, the menu lacked variety, and more importantly the service was terrible - that deserved to be stated twice!

Another thought on the whole smoking issue: If a customer is allowed to smoke next to my table, I should be allowed to crap next to theirs. That way we'd be even-steven on harming each others health and stinking up each others clothes.

We are deeply saddened to lose Annona as our tenant. However, we look forward to bringing bayview something new. Good luck Stacy
