For the ninth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2015."

Bamboo, a restaurant serving up dishes from Thailand and Laos, is now open at 3427 W. National Ave. in the former home of Mr. Sebass Peruvian restaurant.

Co-owner, Santana Tenhover, who owns the restaurant with her husband Andy, is a native of Laos who has more than 10 years in the service industry. She is behind the dishes at the restaurant, which are made from scratch, including fresh noodles.

The menu includes items like kang gao Lao (Laos beef soup), kow paik (chicken soup with udon noodles), kang nor mai (bamboo shoot soup), kow poon (coconut based noodle soup) and pho, along with papaya salad, stir fried beef, Thai style curries and pad Thai. Appetizers, including egg rolls and crab rangoon, are also available. Entrees average $10-12, with appetizers at $6 or less. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.

Bamboo is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Carry-out is also available.

When she’s not eating, photographing food, writing or recording the FoodCrush podcast, you’ll find Lori seeking out adventures with her husband Paul, traveling, cooking, reading, learning, snuggling with her cats and looking for ways to make a difference.
