Milwaukee's best coffee shop/cafe, 2012
For the sixth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2012."
Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2012. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
As it does every year, Alterra absolutely roasted its competition, as the readers of OnMilwaukee.com again voted the popular coffee roasters the best in Milwaukee.
In fact, Alterra took 48.2 percent of the votes, beating runner up Anodyne by more than 650 votes. Anodyne, which finished third in voting last year, traded places with Stone Creek, our editors' pick.
Since 1993, Alterra has brewed strong coffee in style. From their ever-growing shop on Prospect to their beautiful location on the lake to the industrial Fifth Ward Foundry, Alterra has made a name for itself as a company committed to environmental sustainability. The new Bay View location is a hit and another is slated for Wauwatosa next spring.
Whether you're drinking Alterra's coffee at the airport, at a café or at the mall, it's no wonder the company was voted one of Forbes Traveler magazine's 10 hottest coffeehouses. Our staff is there just about every day, and by the looks of it, our readers are, too.
