Milwaukee's best coffee shop/cafe, 2010: Alterra
The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2010. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
In this entire 50-question survey, nowhere was there a bigger blowout than "Best Coffee Shop/Café." The annual winner, Alterra, was the only respondent in any category to garner more the 50 percent of the tally (it finished with 55.3 percent) and trounced the runner-up, Stone Creek, by more than 700 votes.
In other words, Milwaukee loves its Alterra, and we do, too.
Since 1993, this Milwaukee company has brewed strong coffee in style. From their ever-growing shop on Prospect to their beautiful location on the lake to the industrial Fifth Ward Foundry, Alterra has made a name for itself as a company committed to environmental sustainability.
Whether you're drinking Alterra's coffee at the airport, at a café or at the mall, it's no wonder the company was voted one of Forbes Traveler magazine's 10 hottest coffeehouses. Our staff is there just about every day, and by the looks of it, our readers are, too.

ACR has the best espresso, by far (that's pretty much all I drink).
Ooops, I meant to write "the newly redesigned Alterra on Prospect". It's been there for awhile now :O)
Love the new Alterra location on Prospect! Friends from out of town are always pointed to check them out and they would end up loving our local coffeeshop and it's products too. Kudos ACR, keep up the great work!
