Milwaukee's Best Late-Night Drunk Eats, 2010: Oakland Gyros
The votes are in, and the winners have been selected for OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2010. The results of this readers' poll, including an editors' pick, are available in this series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
No, we aren't renaming this award in honor of Oakland Gyros, but we probably could.
For the fourth consecutive year, this East Side institution, 2687 N. Oakland Ave., was voted your favorite spot to grab a meal after an evening out enjoying some of Milwaukee's finest.
Ordering a gyro can be tricky enough for the sober -- pronunciations often vary -- but even after a couple of cold ones, no matter how you pronounce it, a gyro from Oakland Gyros resonates every time.

The Midwest Diner on KK in Bay View is good late night eats (open 24 hrs), but you have to get there before 2:30 am or it's packed. Omega on 27th street is decent too.

Congratulations on your win! From your friends at The Dogg Haus!
Oakland Gyros quality has suffered in the last few years. I used to frequent often, but now leave very much alone. I recommend Gyro Palace on 2nd Street. Quality gyro and great burgers. Open past bartime. Also great for other East Side ex-pats on their way back from East Side / Downtown heading back to Bay View as its right on the way.
Though this is a 'best drunk eats' poll, I have no idea how OG gets voted best gyro every year when they are horrible. Go to Mykonos for the best gyro in town.
