Your votes are in, Milwaukee, and you have selected the winners of OnMilwaukee's Best Dining 2011. We're announcing the results of this readers' poll, including our editors' pick, in a series of articles that run all October long during Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com.
For the fifth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com, presented by Concordia University. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2011."
Once again, Oakland Gyros nabs the tip spot for the best Greek food in Brew City. The East Side eatery got a whopping 30 percent of the votes, with Apollo coming in at a distant second.
Sure, Oakland Gyros is a great place to stop after a night on North Avenue, but the inexpensive and delicious menu make it a solid choice any time. The spinach pie is particularly good and the portions are mammoth so there's enough for the next day, hungover or not.
OnMilwaukee.com editors' choice: Ouzo
5. Golden Gyros
7. The Gyro Stand
8. Marquette Gyros
9. American Gyros
10. Grecian Inn
Gyro Palace, all three locations in milwaukee, should totally be on the list if not THE winners ! so odd ! Gyro Palace is for sure the best !
Gyro Palace on Port Washington Road across from Kopps has to be on this list. Great meat, pitas, and tzsatziki sauce. Huge portions. Plentiful and tasty fries too. What more can you ask. On par with Oakland Gyro for sure.
