Milwaukee's best Greek restaurant, 2013

For the seventh straight year, October is Dining Month on, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2013.

Birds fly. Fish swim. Jordy Nelson makes incredible sideline-balancing catches, and Oakland Gyros wins Milwaukee's best Greek restaurant. These are simply facts of life. It's just what they do.

Since 2007, readers have given the title of Milwaukee's finest Greek food to Oakland Gyros, and 2013 will be no different. The venerable late-night cheap eats hot spot, located on 2867 N. Oakland Ave., won an impressive 37 percent of the votes. If you doubled the number of votes for Apollo, the second place finisher – and the editors' pick – it still would've come up well short of the Greek behemoth that is Oakland Gyros.

Mykonos, Golden Gyros and Gyro Palace rounded out the rest of the readers' top five.

As is tradition, Oakland Gyros also came away with the award for best late night drunk eats. It seems their plentiful portions of tasty gyros, spinach pies and much more have captured Milwaukee's heart, whether they be sober or schwasted. editors' choice: Apollo

2. Apollo
3. Mykonos
4. Golden Gyros
5. Gyro Palace
